CORRECTION AND RETRACTION POLICY

TELAAH BISNIS is committed to maintaining the integrity of the academic record. We recognize that errors may occur in research and publication, and in rare cases, significant breaches of publication ethics may require the retraction or withdrawal of an article.

Our policy is based on the guidelines provided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Correction Policy (Erratum & Corrigendum)

If an error is discovered that does not invalidate the main results or conclusions of the study, a correction may be issued.

  • Corrigendum: Issued when the error is introduced by the author(s) (e.g., a mistake in a formula, a missing author name, or an error in the affiliation).

  • Erratum: Issued when the error is introduced by the publisher/journal (e.g., a layout error or a typo in a figure caption during production).

Procedure: A separate correction notice will be published and linked to the original article. The original article will typically remain unchanged, except for a note referring to the correction, unless the error significantly affects readability.

2. Retraction Policy (Post-Publication)

Retraction is a mechanism for correcting the literature and alerting readers to publications that contain such seriously flawed or erroneous data that their findings and conclusions cannot be relied upon.

Criteria for Retraction:
The Editor-in-Chief will consider retracting a publication if:

  • There is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable, either as a result of misconduct (e.g., data fabrication) or honest error (e.g., miscalculation).

  • The findings have previously been published elsewhere without proper cross-referencing (redundant publication).

  • It constitutes plagiarism or reports unethical research.

Retraction Procedure:

  1. Notification: A "Retraction Notice" will be published explaining the reason for the retraction.

  2. Watermarking: The original article (PDF and HTML) will not be removed from the website. Instead, it will be watermarked with "RETRACTED" on every page to ensure transparency and the permanence of the scientific record (in accordance with archiving standards).

  3. Crossref Update: The metadata in Crossref/DOI will be updated to reflect the retraction status.

3. Article Withdrawal Policy (Pre-Publication)

Authors are free to withdraw their manuscript at any time before the peer review process begins. However, withdrawing a manuscript after it has entered the peer review process or after acceptance constitutes a waste of valuable resources and time for the editors and reviewers.

To avoid unethical withdrawal, Biological Environment and Pollution applies the following policy:

A. Withdrawal Stages & Fees

  • Stage 1 (Submission to Pre-Review): Authors may withdraw their manuscript free of charge if the request is made before the manuscript is sent to reviewers (typically within 7 days of submission).

  • Stage 2 (During Peer Review): If an author requests to withdraw the manuscript after it has been sent to peer reviewers, the author is liable to pay a Reimbursement for Administrative Costs of IDR 350,000. This fee covers the time spent by the secretariat and editors.

  • Stage 3 (After Acceptance/In Press): If an author withdraws a manuscript after it has been accepted for publication, the author is liable to pay a withdrawal fee of IDR 750,000. This covers the costs of peer review management, layout editing, and DOI registration preparation.

B. Sanctions for Non-Compliance
If authors withdraw a manuscript at Stage 2 or 3 without a valid reason or refuse to pay the administrative reimbursement:

  1. The manuscript will be withdrawn from the journal system immediately.

  2. All authors listed on the manuscript will be blacklisted from submitting to Telaah Bisnis for a period of 3 (three) years.

  3. The journal reserves the right to notify the authors' institution regarding the unethical withdrawal practice.
